Important results from the project
The use of a glass fibre instead of a plastic fibre when guiding sunlight into buildings increases the transportation range at least five times compared to what is possible today and improves the light quality. There is no glass fibre optimized for transporting sunlight on the market. The economical possibilities for producing a sunlight fibre are evaluated within in the project by identifying the purity demands on the raw materials and the possible production techniques. This is achieved by producing a few suitable multi component glasses and fibres.
