Important results from the project
The aim of the 3D-SILVER project was to "Develop technology to objectively plan layouts, evaluate ergonomics, and design workplaces in a realistic virtual 3D environment." The goal of the project is reached and more by developing a software tool with the ability to objectively plan layouts, evaluate ergonomics and design workplaces in a realistic virtual 3D environment.
Expected long term effects
In addition, this software has been tested in several industrial cases, presented and validated in about 10 scientific publications. Disseminated in detail to approximately 100 people in Swedish industry through workshops and presented to approximately 1000 people.
Approach and implementation
The development and testing during the creation of the virtual tool was performed iteratively and with industry-relevant cases as a base, with industry actors performing usability tests on user-friendliness and usability from an industrial standpoint. This resulted in a beta version of a tool that helps decision makers during workplace design and design of factories.
