Important results from the project

Graphene is many cases, due to its interesting properties such as good conductivity, high strength, low weight etc. a very useful material. 2D fab intends to be a significant player in the market for large-scale production of graphene for various industrial applications. The demo system is now completed and put into operation. The product quality meets our high expectations. It is intended for a production of 10 tpy. Process design and construction have been carried out in collaboration with Valmet. The facility is located at Valmets Technology Center.

Expected long term effects

We have constructed a continuous process for production of graphene where the raw material was grafit. Exfolieringen takes place in a hydrodynamic process and the results achieved so far show that the process has a great potential. The outcome resulted in a "proof of concept ”for this type of process. 2D fab, together with Ahlstrom-Munksjö and SaltX, has proven that our product is well suited for large-scale production of various products. The project has also resulted in a greater understanding of the process and how we can develop it further with additional projects.

Approach and implementation

The project was preceded by initial tests at Valmet´s pilot plant in Sundsvall. The results that emerged from these experiments were the basis for the process we have built today. Which analyzes would be performed and with which equipment analyzes would be performed have crystallized during the project period. This means that 2D fab will continue to develop in order to achieve the exquisite quality that we strive for. There are already far-reaching plans for how that development will be implemented in the new project.
