Vinnova is tasked with preparing a regulatory sandbox

- It is about experimental activities to develop technology and regulations in, for example, the energy field, by letting companies test new technologies, products and services in a real environment. In some cases, this can mean exemptions from regulations for a limited time," says Johana Axelsson, responsible for the assignment at Vinnova.

The assignment is part of Sweden's implementation of the EU regulation Net Zero Industry Act, which is part of the green given within the EU to speed up the development, production and use of key technologies. Partly to ensure the EU's access to safe and sustainable supply of net zero technology, partly to reach the EU's climate goals.

According to the assignment, Vinnova must:

• Prepare for a national contact point by analyzing how one should be organized in Sweden to promote rule simplification, rule development and innovation linked to new technologies.
• Analyze how a point of contact responsible for handling regulatory sandbox applications could work.
