The food production of the future, electricity supply, healthcare, transportation and industry are based on advanced digital solutions, which are also required for the green transition. The purpose of the research and innovation program Advanced digitalisation is to accelerate Sweden's ability to develop and use new digital technology and give Swedish industry a leading role in the digital solutions of the future. The initiators are ABB, Ericsson, Saab, Teknikföretagen and Vinnova. The business community and the state are jointly investing SEK 1 billion over three years as a first step.
At the inauguration of the program, which took place on 11 May at Ericssons Imagine Studio in Stockholm, Minister of Trade and Industry Karl-Petter Thorvaldsson, and Vinnova's director general Darja Isaksson participated together with representatives of Teknikföretagen, Ericsson, ABB and Saab.
- Other countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, South Korea, the USA and Finland are investing heavily in digitalisation and Sweden also needs to switch gears. This initiative is an important step for our competitiveness, to maintain excellence in research and development in Sweden and not least to cope with the green transition. I hope that this will be part of a gathering of forces in the whole society to take advantage of the possibilities of digitalisation, says Darja Isaksson, director general of Vinnova.
The open calls and other activities offered within the program are aimed at companies and organizations with activities in Sweden, large and small, both public and private. It will lead to new solutions and cutting-edge expertise in such things as cyber security, artificial intelligence, deep-tech and crypto. Examples of project that are already underway within the program include cyber security for increased competitiveness, a pilot for the Swedish cloud infrastructure and a test bed for an autonomous airport,
Advanced digitalisation is one of four sub-programs within the Power Collection for a Sustainable Digitized Sweden, which is a joint proposal from Vinnova, the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency, DIGG Myndigheten for digital administration, the Swedish Research Council and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth to strengthen all of Sweden's digital capacity with focus on competitiveness and sustainability. The sub-programs proposed in addition to Advanced digitalisation are Digitalisation for green transition and social sustainability, Digital infrastructure and data and Digital competence and maturity.
