Jury with broad competence selects winners

The innovation competition is part of the pilot initiative Winter, which Vinnova runs together with a number of societal actors with the aim of finding solutions for safe use and sharing of sensitive data. Competitors, companies and developers in services and infrastructure, get access to health data from people with type 1 diabetes. Data used to develop digital solutions for the benefit of people with type 1 diabetes, their relatives and care.

When the competition ends on January 26, 2022, the jury work will start in earnest, and on March 23, the winners will be chosen.

Four jury members present themselves:

Emma Henriksson, chairman of the Greater Stockholm Diabetes Association, SSDF.Emma is on the jury as a representative of the end user - people with diabetes and their relatives. She has extensive experience from politics, and has previously been a member of parliament for the Christian Democrats.

• As a representative of a patient organization, I hope to be able to contribute with the end user's perspective. I also hope that I can include the perspectives from many years in political decision-making and the networks I have in different parts of health care.
• The form of the competition is an exciting way to attract both additional knowledge and innovations that provide benefits to patients in their health and daily life, says Emma Henriksson.

Per Englund, Innovation Leader, Region Stockholm. Per, who has worked as an innovation leader for eight years at Region Stockholm, especially represents the caregiver's perspective in the jury.

• I hope to be able to contribute with deep competence about the needs of the care providers. Winter is extremely exciting as we break new ground by creating a new approach to patient data. The amount of data mixes the data of the individual and the care, which creates completely new conditions, says Per Englund.

Karolina Antonov, Head of Analysis at the industry organization The Researching Pharmaceutical Companies, LiF. Karolina especially represents the business perspective in the jury.

• I hope to be able to contribute with my knowledge of the business community's need to be able to use health data in research, development of products and services and for these to be implemented.
• Winter can hopefully show a clear way forward in the use of health data and that it should be useful for policy development, says Karolina Antonov.
