Joint efforts for social enterprises have yielded results

The aim government assignment was for social enterprises to be better able to participate in solving challenges in society. Vinnova would also contribute to the public sector paying attention to and using social business and social enterprises in the development of a sustainable society.

The results show that the development has gone in the desired direction. Social enterprises have contributed with concrete examples of how the public sector can collaborate with social enterprises in practice, increased knowledge about collaboration and new financing models have taken place in both social enterprises and the public sector. In addition, a strengthening of the support system for social enterprises has taken place and overall a greater maturity is seen in the system.

The government assignment has been very important in creating legitimacy and providing space to shift up the work in this important area. But for the investments made to be able to have far-reaching effects, perseverance is required. Work remains, not least to create capacity in society for long-term and sustainable implementation of social innovations.

In order to achieve an adjustment for a sustainable future, all innovative forces need to be gathered and utilized. It has never been more important than now to mobilize and gather around common objective and together find solutions that lead to system change.
