With the Horizon Europe investment, the EU continues to build on the work to strengthen the effect of research and innovation that tackles our major global societal challenges. The European framework program for research and innovation shall contribute to the UN's sustainability goals. The program has a budget of over EUR 95 billion and runs from 2021–2027. We at Vinnova help and guide you who want to apply funding within Horisont Europa.
Swedish companies, organizations and research institutions can, on the same term as corresponding actors in other EU countries, apply for funds from the budget, which is proposed to be 94 billion euros.
This is done with the citizen at the center. Researchers get the opportunity to realize ideas in research and innovation. In addition to funding, the program also offers knowledge and experience exchange as well as network building with colleagues in and outside Europe.
The program is for all types of organizations in business, public sector, research institutes, universities, university colleges, companies, industry and civil society.
Horisont Europa shall:
The program has three main orientations, pillars, within which project can receive funding. The three pillars are Scientific excellence, Global challenges and European industrial competitiveness and Innovativa Europa.
The European partnerships and missions are part of the second pillar "Global challenges and European industrial competitiveness" and are important components of Horisont Europa. The European partnerships are a collective name for various collaborations between the European Commission, the countries and other stakeholders. Missions are strategically targeted research and innovation efforts where resources are concentrated on a few selected societal challenges.
