We address those of you who have concrete plans to participate in the national nomination process and coordinate an EU "Competence Centre”" in semiconductors.
Vinnova plans to finance the establishment of an EU "Competence Centre”" in Sweden. It is preceded by an open and transparent national process before Vinnova's nomination.
The ongoing EU partnership program Key Digital Technologies (KDT) JU will be transformed into Chips JU. Chips JU will become a larger partnership program with several different efforts, such as a European network of "Competence Centre” in semiconductor technologies.
The European Commission launched Chips Act in February 2022 with the objective of strengthening Europe's competitiveness and resilience in semiconductor technologies and applications and to support green and digital transformation. Funding of Swedish "Competence Centre” comes from the European Commission and the Swedish state via Vinnova.
