On April 12, Sweden's research and innovation office in Brussels (SWERI) invited you to a seminar on the EU's Missions, with a focus on how Missions are translated from policy to implementation. The event provided an overview of the implementation of Missions from a Swedish perspective, and had a transversal Mission focus. The speakers represened the broader Mission perspective, but also the focus areas Cancer, Climate Neutral and Smart Cities and Climate Adaptation. The event was aimed at those who want to learn more about the implementation of Missions

Welcome to the seminar in Nordic House.

The seminar began with an overall presentation of mission-oriented work in Sweden. It was followed by a panel discussion with actors from the Swedish Missions ecosystem. The conversation was rounded off with a reflective survey from an EU perspective and a question and answer session.

Göran Marklund

Göran Marklund is deputy director general and head of strategic strategic analysis at Vinnova. He has been involved for many years in Vinnova's activities around Mission-oriented innovation policy.

Panelist

Albert Edman

Albert is Senior Project Manager at RISE and focus area leader for Cities and societies in change. Albert is involved in several national and international contexts around Smart Cities and sustainable urban development, including as Internationalization Strategist for the strategic innovation program Viable Cities.

Abbot Stevenson

Ebba is co-founder and manager of the mission-oriented innovation hubs Nollvision Cancer and Test Bed Sweden for clinical trials and precision health in cancer care. Ebba is also a member of the Lung Cancer Policy Network.

Erika Augustinsson

Erika is an innovation strategist at Region Blekinge, which was the first Swedish region to sign the EU's Mission for Climate Adaptation. Erika leads the region's work on implementing Mission as a method.

Neville Reeve

Neville has extensive experience from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) and was previously sector manager responsible for policy, strategy, framework conditions and coordination for EU Missions within Horisont Europa. He is currently part of director Julien Guerriers's immediate team at DG RTD's policy center.
