Funding for staff exchange and artificial intelligence (AI)

The Swedish innovation agency Vinnova offers funding up to 300,000 SEK for short-term staff exchange in the field of artificial intelligence. The application deadline is 2 October 2018.

  • What we want to achieve with this call for proposals

    The main purpose is to establishlasting cooperation between academia and other parts of society. We support collaboration and sharing of ideas between research disciplines and different industrial sectors in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

    Organizations that can apply 

    The exchange includestwo partnerorganizations, one academic and one non-academic. The staff exchange can take place in Sweden or as an international exchange, both incoming and outgoing directions. At least one of the sending or receiving organizations must be an academic institution

    Length of exchange 

    The funding supports the secondment of staff members for one to three months. The exchange can be spread over an 18-month period. 

    Personal qualifications 

    To apply for the exchange, individuals must fulfill one of the following criteria:

    • Researcherwith a PhD degree working at a university or research institute.  
    • Staff working at a private company, in the public sector or at an NGO. Documentation of at least 2 years’ experienceof R&D in AI is required. 

    Funding details 

    The grant can be used to cover salary, travel and accommodation. 

    Vinnova will cover up to 50 per cent of the overall costs for the exchange, up to 300,000 SEK.  

    Contents of a proposal 

    Proposals should highlight the knowledge creation, the sharing of know-how, and skills development in AI made possible through the staff exchange.  

    The proposal mustinclude the following: 

    • How the exchange will lead to new or improved cooperation between the two organizations 

    • A description of the AI-part of the cooperation 

    • CVs for the staff exchange individual and the host in the receiving organization 

    • Letters of intent from both organizations 

    • A plan and budget for the exchange 

    The application must be submitted by the Swedish organization.

    To apply for funding, you need to complete an application form in our application portal, Intressentportalen. The form contains questions about your project, project members and budget.

    What happens after the call has closed?

    Once your application has been registered, we'll send a confirmation email to the person responsible for the user account, as well as to the project manager and the company signer. Please note that this may take a few hours after the call has closed.

    After the closing date, you can't register any new information. You may only add information to your application if we ask for it.

    Who can read your application?

    Applications submitted to us become official documents. However, we don't disclose information about business operations, inventions or research results if it can be assumed that someone will suffer economic damage if we do.

    This means that we must disclose the documents if someone requests them. However, we can black out information if we believe it could cause economic harm if disclosed.
