One of the major challenges we face is to adapt society to the climate changes that are already taking place and are expected to worsen with a changing climate. This includes heat waves, with subsequent drought and fire, which increase the risk of mortality in vulnerable groups.

Rainfall that increases the risk of floods and increased risks of landslides, landslides and erosion, which can have major consequences for infrastructure and buildings. Rising sea levels and temporary floods in storms are further examples.

In addition, there are the climate-affecting emissions, which are often closely linked to air pollution and related health aspects. Innovation and sustainable solutions are therefore needed to adapt the climate to cities and the physical structures of communities and the built environment, including green spaces, stormwater and V / A infrastructure.

For sustainable land and water use, society needs to plan and find cost-effective, flexible methods to strengthen resilience in existing and future buildings and infrastructure so that these are adapted to changing physical conditions.
